Le réalisateur d' Action ou vérité" et le producteur Jason Blum signent l'adaptation cinématographique de la série "L'Île Fantastique. Porté par Lucy Hale et Michael Peña, le film sera visible au cinéma le 12 février 2020. Si elle avait pu faire rêver certains spectateurs dans les années à la fin des années 70 et au début des années 80, l'île fantastique de  la série du même nom dévoile un visage bien plus inquiétant dans Nightmare Island. En effet, si le point de départ est le même que celui de la série (une île mystérieuse exauce les voeux les plus fous de ses invités) cette adaptation cinématographique prend un virage horrifique dans la suite des événements. Pas surprenant quand on sait que c'est  Jason Blum qui est derrière le film. Le producteur prolifique de Get Out, American Nightmare ou encore Insidious, se lance donc dans ce qui pourrait être une nouvelle franchise lucrative. Il réunit le réalisateur Jeff Wadlow et l'actrice  Lucy Hale avec lesquels il avait déjà collaboré sur Action ou Vérité. L'ex-actrice de Pretty Little Liars est entourée de Michael Peña,  Maggie Q et Austin Stowell. En 2007, une adaptation était déjà en projet avec Eddie Murphy dans le rôle principal mais n'avait pas abouti. Pour les fans de L'Île fantastique, HBO avait consacré en 2018 un téléfilm sur  Hervé Villechaize (Tattoo dans la série) campé par Peter Dinklage, intitulé My Dinner with Hervé.
